We adore Mexican, Tex-Mex and Southern American food, so imagine our delight at finding Packit Gourmet of Austin, Texas. “Our philosophy is that home cooking is the new gourmet,” says Packit Gourmet co-founder Sara Welton. “So basically our aim was to bring good home-made tasting food to the outdoors.” We’re wild about their flavours; we continue to work our way through the range and are yet to find a dud. We regard Packit Gourmet as our premium freeze-dried range. Only downside: the food miles! We apologise for that, and the freight costs that go with it, but urge you to give this wondrous lightweight food a try.
