So, you’re in Tasmania, one of THE places for cool-climate wines… shouldn’t you celebrate your first night on the track with a little tipple? Fill this 750ml Platypreserve yourself (we highly recommend a Tassie pinot) or buy a bottle of wine from the Port Arthur Historic Site cafe’s regional wine list and they’ll decant.
This nifty bottle is also available to buy for $27.95
(If you want to fill it with spirits, you’ll need to purchase the Platy – a bottle once Scotched is never unscented …)

We were considering to hire 4 of the ‘hiker’s flexible wine bottle’ but as it turned out Ian and Gail were exploring offering wine, as well, in the hiker’s flexible wine bottle, so we decided to give it a try. We purchased 2 bottles of Pinot Gris and also 2 Pinot Noir. The wine was from a local winery, that is rated well by James Halliday. We were happy with both wines, drinking the Pinot Gris on the first night as I kept it chilled packed next to our first night’s frozen dinner. Following Gail’s instructions we expelled air prior to recapping when we didn’t finish one of the bottles, and there were not issues with it having oxidised when we opened it to finish it the following night. We were really able to enjoy gourmet snacks and meals with our wine!

These are a definite. Our group happily and safely carried our red wine in several of these flasks without a drop leaking.

We really appreciated a glass or two of red with our first night beef cheeks dinner. A great addition to the pack.

So easy to use and and I really enjoyed my glass of wine at the end of each day. The best treat. Ian was incredibly easy to deal with, all the gear was exactly as ordered and their food surpassed our expectation.

These were fabulous! We carried one each, sturdy, no leaks and boy did we enjoy a drink at the end of the first 2 days. Gear & Gourmet team were great communicators, and Ian dropped off/picked up the gear at our accommodation which saved us so much time and hassle pre-walk. Would definitely use again!

I’m pleased to report that this survived nicely in my tightly-packed bag, and didn’t spill or leak a drop. Gail and Ian do a great job cleaning them too because it smelled good as new when we received it!
