This dessert and the upside-down apple pie were the two dishes that attracted the most attention from other hikers in our kitchen on the Three Capes Track last week. Simple to prepare and even easier to eat! My only issue was that the amount of water recommended seemed a bit much even after simmering for longer than stated so we halved it the second time round and had a great result.

So delicious! Even those in our group who are not normally fans of fruity desserts loved this. We ordered desserts for every night of the hike and I’d definitely do that again. They were highlights at the end of the day, and we argued about which was our favourite and remained divided because they were all so good.

Lovely dessert. Easy to make and a luxary at the end of the hike.

Delicious treat for the last night. Forgot to pre-soak, but just cooked it longer. Easy to make, would recommend it.

Great stuff. I strongly recommend combining the with the muesli packs for a fuller breakfast.
Martelle Laws –
We loved this, it was a good mix, not too sweet and felt very indulgent (with little effort required) very comforting food

It was such a treat to have something so tasty at the end of our meal. Very easy prep. Delicious.

Delicious. A beautiful fruit combination. This was the best crumble topping I have tasted and worked really well because there was no oven baking. For best results pre soak the fruit for more than the recommended 5 minutes (while you are cooking and eating your main course). I liked how this was all prepared in one saucepan including the soaking.

A luxurious, delicious warm dessert that was so filling as an after dinner treat. I could easily have shared this as it is quite a large portion, but thankful that I didn’t have to!!
Quite amazing how this dehydrated meal came back to life as if it was cooked from fresh.

All eaten! Hardly had to wash the plates, Super exciting at the end of the day.

Simple and very easy to prepare – but more importantly it was delicious 😋

Had a few envious eyes watching me cook this. Absolutely yummy and I had this dessert twice but decided to share the second one as I felt guilty my walking buddy didn’t buy any. A must have!

We believe in treats when hiking & our 3 Capes trek was definitely made more enjoyable by this significant dessert! The prep was easy, the taste delicious (strawberries excellent and the crumble recipe divine) – not surprising others looked on enviously while I sang the praises of TCG&G. Keep up the good work!

A wonderful treat! Lots of people asked about it and thought it was great idea. We really enjoyed this. The crumble and fruit worked so well together.

A nice sweet treat and a welcome fresh taste if you haven’t taken fresh fruit/veg.
Maryanne Millhouse –
This was a yummy dessert. The fruit ( especially the strawberries) come back to life with water. The flavour was great. Best part is how light it is to carry. Totally worth it and I would definitely have it again.
Zoe –
Amazing dessert, got a lot of attention from fellow hikers who were a little envious of my dessert! Easy to prepare and full of taste! Following a filling dinner, and then this I slept so well with a very full belly!

Delicious dessert. A lovely sweet treat for after dinner, and lovely and warming to have on a winter night. The flavours of pear and strawberry work really well together.

Great tasting desert, simple to prepare and perfect if you’re hiking in winter. Warming and sweet, definitely worth carrying for sitting around the fire on those winter nights before bed.
