Trust us, you need a head torch. Handy for late-night reading or card games and a spot of wildlife spotlighting – for which our torches come with critter-friendly red-led lights. (Also important to say that the sleeping rooms have no lighting, and if you’re a nighttime bathroom visitor, they’re a short walk away from the sleeping huts over duckboard.) The torch has four settings, a throw of more than 70 metres, and we load it with rechargeable NiMH high-capacity batteries.

The juice on batteries:
We chose to spend a little more upfront on rechargeable NiMH batteries. We can recharge these high-capacity models about 500 times before they start to lose their zip, and when we’re done with them we send them off for recycling.

    Easy to use. Light weight. Perfect for finding your way to the toilets in the middle of the night.

    My wife and I hired two of these for our trip, and couldn’t have been happier. The “Red Light” mode is a must for late night rummaging through the cabins while your bunkmates sleep. As promised, they came pre-charged and we never ran out of battery.
