Chana Masala


Our search for the tastiest hiking dinners has led us many places, including the local Asian and subcontinental grocery stores. At the latter we’ve found several compact, heat-and-serve meals for vegetarians, including this Chana Masala from MTR foods. It’s a bit heavier than freeze-dried or dehydrated food, but this is a great version of the North Indian favourite chickpea dish. We add a couple of multi-grain or gluten-free tortillas for some extra energy – dry-fry them for a minute or two each side for an almost-like-roti experience.
